Hamburg (January 24, 2020). Are you a Hospitality PropTech or do you know one? Then it is high time to apply… With the "PropTech Innovation Award 2020", Union Investment is promoting young innovative people and lateral thinkers. They are looking for solutions for current issues in the real estate industry. This year, the category "Connected Hospitality" is present for the first time. The three winners from all six categories will receive cash prizes of a total of 40,000 euros. However, interested parties have to hurry with their applications!
Initiators of the "PropTech Innovation Award 2020" are Union Investment and GERMANTECH – a non-profit organisation, which has been creating a market place for start-ups in Berlin for four years now (https://german.tech/).
Following the motto "Digital Solutions for Urban Places and Spaces", the PropTech Innovation Award 2020 awards the best solutions in the categories "Smart and Sustainable Buildings", "Efficient Decision Making", "Smart Living", "Smart Retail", "Future Office", and "Connected Hospitality". The topics were determined by Union Investment in cooperation with partners from the real estate industry. The award includes prize money of a total of 40,000 euros.
Applications for the PropTech Innovation Award 2020 can be handed in until February 15, 2020. You will find more details and access to the application platform at www.proptech-innovation.de.

Award: Preliminary round
and final
The preliminary round and the final round with 18 PropTechs as well as the award ceremony will take place during the PropTech Innovation Summit on May 28, 2020, at Kulturbrauerei in Berlin. In six parallel topic sessions, the three best PropTech companies per category have the chance to present their resolution approaches in smaller groups to a specialised expert audience, for example, to hotel experts or large portfolio managers.
The winners elected by the experts in the six categories will then compete against each other in front of 400 guests and they will be assessed by an international expert panel. "The qualifying rounds with a total of 18 start-ups and the focus on a central topic are a new exciting platform, with the aim to initiate specific cooperations and develop ideas further in direct exchange with the industry", says Benjamin Rohé, Founder of GERMANTECH.
PropTechs are accepted
The term property technology – PropTech in short – stands for modern technological developments in the field of the real estate industry. "The PropTech scene has grown up. Solutions are being developed more often in direct dialogue with the industry", says Jens Wilhelm, Member of the Executive Board of Union Asset Management Holding AG. "With our initiative, we are taking up this development process again. We are looking for sustainable and viable solutions, and exactly there, where the real problem lies with us and the relevant industry participants."
PropTech Innovation Award has been tendered internationally by Union Investment and GERMANTECH for the fourth time. More than 500 PropTechs from all around the world applied in the previous rounds of the renowned award. Last year, the AI PropTech Dabble Automation Intelligence from Germany asserted itself against 150 competitors from 48 countries. Amongst the awards winners since 2017 are also innovators such as Bao Living, Voxelgrid, Physee, Spaceti, HiP Interactive, Green City Solutions, and Architrave. Many of them have been able to achieve the breakthrough and cooperate with renowned clients from the real estate industry. / kn
