Successful lead-up conference for Balkan States

Nova Gorica (June 20, 2008). About 100 participants paid tribute to the initiative of "Slovenian Times" in organising the first inter-regional investment conference for the western Balkan States. At the "IC Investment Conference 2008" in the Slovenian-Italian border town of Nova Gorica, interesting panel discussions and presentations provided a more detailed insight last Monday and Tuesday into the various tourism approaches of the states of Eastern Europe opening up.

The Slovenians consider their country primarily a destination for families and short trips in the middle-class segment, while Montenegro also wants to enter the top markets and Croatia is in the middle of a balancing act between developing mass tourism and individuality.
Serbia has developed concrete master plans for individual regions; Bosnia and Herzegovina simply want to enter the EU in the first place.

hospitalityInside.com will pick up on the most interesting aspects of the conference in the form of interviews and detailed articles in its next issues, trying to provide objective information to those readers who have not occupied themselves too extensively with these brands so far. Parts of the contributions at the conference also included planned hotel and tourism projects that have not yet been financed.

Most agreeable about this small circle was the fact that establishing contact was very easy. For a "western" observer, it was really refreshing to see the honest and unvarnished way in which the representatives of the Eastern states defended their position and criticised existing laws and developments. / map
