"Future Forum": Living visions up close

Berlin/Vienna (September 15, 2006). The "Future Forum" of Design Hotels originally stems from two separate sets of events: the annual consortia members' meeting and trend discussions with guest speakers. In three weeks, 'architects of the future', property owners, investors and all those interested will convene in Vienna in order to exchange ideas and visions for living and lifestyle trends at "The Future of Living" symposium. Hoteliers interested in taking part may do so for 10 Euros entrance fee.

The symposium that begins the Design Hotels event on Thursday, 5 October from 2-6 p.m. in the glass room of Vienna's Musikverein, Boesendorfer Str. 12 is sure to provide enough material for heated discussions even in the following non-public section. "It was our idea to better integrate architects into the group at the first 'Future Forum of Design' two years ago in London and to better push our own brand," Matthias Huettenbraeuker explains, Director of Marketing for Design Hotels plc. "Last year we then shortened the name to simply 'Future Forum' and in Shanghai the podium discussions were unified into one single future perspective."

Design Hotels based in Berlin presently has 140 hotel members in 40 countries. Their target group consists of all those travellers who are open to individual, authentic and environmental concepts. Concepts for this target group can only be born out of controversial discussion, a finding that was clear to be seen at last year's Future Forum in Shanghai. There Chinese intellectuals and international guests discussed the interplay between the oldest culture in the world and modern China. The previous year in London almost exclusively concentrated on architectural design.

"Design Hotels is discreet as organiser of the event, remaining more or less in the background," Huettebraeuker explains, "we see ourselves more as host and presenter of new visions."
