Madrid (November 4, 2022). The timing is clever: Two days before the start of the Spanish tourism fair FITUR - which wants to become the new ITB - a new hotel investors' conference will have its premiere in Madrid on 16/17 January 2023: AOHIS, the Atlantic Ocean Hotel Investors' Summit. It will take place at the NH Collection Eurobuilding Hotel. It will not be a "commercial show", but an event with content and quality, limited to 300 participants. HospitalityInside is happy to support AOHIS as a media partner. Our subscribers receive a special price.
The organiser of AOHIS is the investor circle Hoftel, founded by Simon Allison from London and which he describes as the only independent global alliance of investors in hotel real estate. More than 70 members currently belong to it. Hoftel wants to initiate the new conference annually in the future.
Hoftel has had good experiences with his previous five Hotel Investor Summits in the UAE (www.giohis.com) and Thailand (www.seahis.com). According to Allison, the participants rewarded the high-quality contents, the networking at the highest level and the very high concentration of hotel owners and investors.

The participants in numbers
"Generally, hotel property owners, developers and investors make up 35% or more of all attendees," Allison explains, "and the percentage of business owners, CEOs and other executives is similar. Typically we have 40% owners, 15% brands/operators, 15% consultants, 5% lawyers, 25% other. Typically, about 35% are business owners and family members, CEOs, and other leaders."
Unlike previous trade conferences, AOHIS will cover a whole new geography, with a focus on Iberia, Latin America and the Caribbean, the UK and France, and Atlantic Africa, but also participants on the US East Coast. Europe, of course, is not excluded; after all, investments rarely know national borders. The program already includes speakers from Germany, Finland, and Israel, for example.
The new conference will be timed to coincide with FITUR, which usually has 200,000 participants (and even had 90,000 in the Corona year of 2022) and attracts many participants from Latin America and the Caribbean.
The AOHIS slogan is "big enough to meet the right people.... but also small enough to meet the right people": The number of participants is usually between 200 and 300, so that the demand for quality can be met. That's why it's important for Simon Allison to emphasize that they don't market the event to product vendors. "The presentations and discussions deal with real issues of interest to investors and there are no pipeline pitches or pitching."
