Munich (October 9, 2020). Corona has also shrunk the size of Europe's largest real estate and investment fair and converted it into a hybrid model. The previous six rounds of discussions at the hotel conference have been reduced to four. Nevertheless, on Wednesday there is still enough room left to discuss the most important "hot topics" of 2020: the operator black box, rents/leases and insolvency/third party use. In the end, a futurologist will give courage. Another panel on Thursday will focus on the current degree of digitalisation in hotels. The programme in detail.
Between suffering and learning, old and new structures: the umbrella theme of the "Hospitality Industry Dialogue" (HID) can only roughly indicate how emotions and discussions are currently running high in the industry. That is why this year only hoteliers, real estate experts and lawyers with experience of crises have the floor. It is all about factual exchange, not about new development or transaction superlatives.
The HID will take place on Wednesday, 14 October, between 12.00 and 16.00 p.m. live at the ICM Munich (entrance right next to the west entrance of the trade fair), in the Planning & Partnerships Forum / Hall 1. Some participants will be connected digitally.
The panel about digital innovation will take place on Thursday, 15 October, in the Real Estate Innovation Forum. Two hoteliers, one digital and one technology expert will describe the current status and challenges of digitalisation in everyday hotel life and in dialogue with real estate owners.

15.00-15.50 h Post-pandemic travel: A look into the future.
Tourism is in a state of upheaval, also due to Covid. Numerous segments (e.g. business tourism) are being reconfigured. Travel will become smarter (the experience, of course, will always remain analogue), the customer's journey will be controlled by AI and digital processes. Corona is reshaping our relationship to proximity and distance - and with it, access to services. The touristic experience economy is undergoing a transformation, with different travel motives. New formats and cooperations are emerging, tourism is losing its role as a solitaire.

15.00-15.50 Uhr Hotel real estate: Covid-19, the driver of innovation
Major hotel chains have long offered their guests the option of checking-in online. Since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, what started as an added convenience has become almost ubiquitous: contactless check-in gives guests peace of mind and an added sense of security. The pandemic has become a major driver of digitalization in guest services and personnel planning, as well as in the construction and repurposing of hotel properties. More than ever, all eyes in the industry are on efficient space utilization, digital building modeling and process optimization as owners and operators reassess the efficiency and effectiveness of their business models.
