Singapore (October 15, 2010). Next Wednesday, 20 October 2010, the third ITB Asia will start. “We have created a very powerful and high quality buying mix this year,” Nino Gruettke, Executive Director of ITB Asia, said. Each October since 2008, ITB Asia has attracted over 6,000 participants from the leisure, meetings, and corporate travel sectors. The organiser Messe Berlin (Singapore) just extended their contract with Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Messe Berlin (Singapore) has announced that 47% of hosted buyers at ITB Asia 2010 will be new buyers. The majority of them have been recommended by exhibitors. Some 62% of all hosted buyers scheduled to attend will represent travel markets in Asia Pacific. The organizer expect that Europe will supply 26%, up from 16% last year. Some 7% of buyers will come from the Middle East, 4% from the United States and 1% from Africa.
A full 43% of buyers will represent the MICE sector, up from 32% last year. Some 47% of all buyers will represent leisure travel companies and 10% are primarily interested in corporate travel.
“We listened to our exhibitors,” said Nino Gruettke. “They told us they wanted more MICE buyers and more buyers from Europe this year.” He said that MICE buyer representation had spiked this year due to ITB Asia’s Association Day, 20-21 October. The specialist event will focus on best practise, the latest operational realities and new opportunities in the association event sector. Association Day attendees from four continents, representing over 17 countries are expected to attend.
Messe Berlin extends three year deal
Messe Berlin (Singapore) has extended a new three-year deal with Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre to host ITB Asia from 2011-2013. Messe Berlin CEO Mr Raimund Hosch said: "Suntec is the right choice due its logistics, access, facilities and a ‘can-do’ mindset." The continued alliance meant that exhibitors, buyers and journalists now have planning reliability. He said that some exhibitors had already committed to ITB Asia 2011 based on the decision to stay in Singapore.
ITB Asia will take place at the Suntec Singapore Exhibition & Convention Centre, 20-22 October, 2010. It is organised by Messe Berlin (Singapore) Pte Ltd and supported by the Singapore Exhibition & Convention Bureau (www.itb-asia.com). hospitalityInside.com is media partner of the event and will report from Singapore. / red
