Swissotel Istanbul Sicherheitscheck Screening in der Lobby
Where safety starts: screening in the lobby - like in the Swissôtel Istanbul.

Berlin (February 10, 2012). Political riots, crises, attacks. How do hotels protect their guests? This question has not only been posed since the "Arabian Spring". Hotels have already repeatedly been the target of attacks or served as the setting for determinant political talks. And so, the subject is not new for hoteliers, but it has gained another dimension. And the security aspect of hotels as well as from destinations will presumably influence reservations in the future. The discussion round under the title, "Security: When the Holiday Sinks into Chaos", will embrace a current topic at the 7th "ITB Hospitality Day" in Berlin. The Marriott President, a Siemens expert and an Egyptian in discussion - on Thursday, the 8th of March, 2012, from 16.30 to 17.30.

Virtually overnight, popular resort destinations like Tunisia or Egypt can be gripped by political turbulence and structures are sent into disarray. The capitals turn into a maelstrom; and the hotels along with them. Only the far-removed cities and tourists, themselves, weigh in security. Nevertheless, the question regarding security is immediately raised throughout - in the destination as well as the hotels.

Experts speak from experience

  Fuller Ed

40 years with Marriott International have made an impression on Ed Fuller. The President and Managing Director will say goodbye in April and go into retirement. The situations after the two attacks in Jakarta, Indonesia belonged to the most difficult duties of his Marriott life. Twice, the Marriott had been laid to waste there; there were people dead. He will report on how he maintained the trust of the guests, owners and staff members. And of course, explain how hotel chains can protect themselves and their guests.

 Hartmann Michael
Michael Hartmann.

Michael W. Hartmann, Senior Vice President Head Market Development Board Hospitality with Siemens AG will toss in a very objective view on the subject. Among other things, the group deals in general with the security of buildings, investigates and develops its own security systems and knows the wants and hardships of its customers. The hotel owner as well as the hotel operator are among them.
