Berlin (February 3, 2017). To be among the top executives is at all times of significant importance to newcomers to the sector. Whoever then even receives an award during the International Hotel Investment Forum (IHIF) in Berlin is twice as proud. That's why the "2017 Young Leaders Award" once again takes place in the plenum during the congress at the InterContinental Hotel Berlin, 6-8 March.

The organizer, International Society of Hospitality Consultants (ISHC) has been accepting nominations from all over the world. Candidates must be 35 years of age or younger, currently work for or directly within the hotel sector and should be recognised by peers and industry members as an emerging leader for the hotel industry. All candidates need to be nominated by a sponsor from within their organization or by someone with direct work experience with the nominee.

The shortlist is now fixed and the award ceremony is approaching. "The applications always come from a big international radius and last year, there was even a neck-and-neck race.", says Herbert Mascha, Partner of the Austrian consulting company MRP Hotels and recently appointed board member of the ISHC (www.ishc.com). The latter spurs him on since "we want to still strengthen Europe."

Last year's winner was Ben Justus, Founder of EGBOK Mission, a charitable non-profit that enables underprivileged young adults in Cambodia to be self-supporting by providing education, training and employment opportunities in the hospitality industry and utilizing a comprehensive approach with an emphasis on life skills. Since founding EGBOK in 2009, Ben moved to Cambodia to establish a non-profit hospitality training school and manage the expanding business operations of the organization.

"We are proud to continue our partnership with IHIF to recognise young leaders who are truly shaping the future of our industry. It is always inspiring to see the nominations come in each year of individuals who have already achieved so much early in their career," said Andrea Belfanti, Executive Director of ISHC. Tess Pearson, Event Director, Questex Hospitality Group, hosts of IHIF, commented, "This year’s celebration of the 20th anniversary of IHIF affords us an opportunity not only to reflect on historic trends but to anticipate the future of our industry and those who will form it."

The award ceremony will be held on Tuesday, 7 March, at 10:20 am.

The International Society of Hospitality Consultants counts over two hundred industry professionals from across six continents. Collectively, ISHC members provide expert services in over fifty functional areas and have specialized skills in virtually every segment of the hospitality industry.
