Berlin (September 1, 2017). As of 2018, there will be no more individual "ITB Hospitality Day" at the ITB Berlin Convention. The trade fair management surprisingly announced that they want to streamline the convention's programme and focus on the hospitality topics of "luxury" and "technology". They will pop up in other convention panels.
Since the start of the conference in 2006, hospitalityInside was the exclusive media partner of the ITB Hospitality Day; Editor-in-Chief Maria Puetz-Willems organised content, hosts and panelists from all over the world. During this period, more than 16,800 visitors and about 300 experts focused on the relevant topics in the industry, and in 2016, a robot even made a debut on stage: hotel android Mario "rocked" an enthusiastic audience.
"These 12 years were a very exciting time with many interesting encounters", says Maria Puetz-Willems. "I would like to thank all speakers, hosts, panelists, and visitors at the ITB Hospitality Day personally and with all my heart for their great support and the inspiring exchange!!! Many of them came from abroad just to participate in one discussion forum, they changed their schedules, and filled in spontaneously if somebody cancelled on short notice. Many renowned CEOs sat on the stage as well as many representatives of young and emerging businesses as well as vibrant personalities – it was a colourful mixture of people and topics, which always reflected the diversity of this global industry in its entire bandwidth. The entire hospitalityInside team and I would like to thank everyone for their work and energy who made this project a great success!"
Parting with ITB and new projects
Without the hotel conference, there are less synergy effects for HospitalityInside. Therefore, the publishing house has re-evaluated its commitment in Berlin and has decided to terminate the joint stand "World of Hospitality" at ITB Hall 9 as well as discontinue the special magazine "hospitalityInside SPECIAL ITB".
HospitalityInside will use the free spaces and resources resulting from this decision for new projects under its own label. Two new projects, one of which is a top-class event, are already in preparation; both will start in 2018. As you can see, it will be neither boring nor monotonous for hospitalityInsiders. We will keep you informed! / red
