Berlin (February 13, 2009). For the first time, on March 12, 2009 at the "ITB Hospitality Day" in Berlin, a panel discussion will take place in which the audience defines the panel's content: on the subject of "Talent Management", professional visitors can ask questions. "Ask Mr. X" is the symbolic headline for this panel where two experts on human resources will try to give the right answers. hospitalityInside.com is media partner of the fourth ITB hotel conference and organises its content.

  Thomas Kraft
  Moderator
Thomas Kraft.

Thomas Kraft, Chairman of the Board of the globally acting training and quality assurance institute IFH Worldwide from Frankfurt, is an experienced moderator who will extract the right questions and pass them on to the two persons answering. The representative of the academic side is Ruud R. Reuland,

General Director of the renowned Ecole Hotelière de Lausanne from Switzerland. The representative of the practical side is Katrin Melle. She is Area Director Human Resources for Hyatt International located in the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Mainz, as well as spokeswoman of the Hotel Human Resources Circle (HHRC), a study group, where people that are responsible for human resources of well-known chain hotels meet and exchange ideas on a regular basis.

The talented employee will take part in deciding on the hotel's future success. What skills are needed? Is it really important to have operational knowledge of numbers in order to start a career in the hotel industry? Which human resources policy will the businesses pursue in these hard times? Is a "hire & fire" policy the right answer to crises in general? What does quality assurance mean in the human resources department?

As hospitalityInside.com got to know through discussions with the panel participants in advance, the reality is much more diverse. Therefore, professional visitors should use this opportunity to ask questions and also come and visit the panel with urgent questions they have in mind.

Except for the session about "talent management" during the ITB Hospitality Day, ITB trade visitors should have a look to hall 5.1. There, some 50 exhibitors will be showcasing their international portfolios under the heading of "Training and Employment in Tourism".

German and foreign universities, technical colleges and vocational schools, research institutes and other service providers will be presenting first hand details about the opportunities for study and educational advancement in tourism. For the first time at ITB Berlin the Federal Labour Agency will be introducing its maritime jobs initiative "MeerArbeit". This is a unique opportunity for anyone considering a career change and looking for employment on ships: The Suhl Labour Agency is the only one in Germany to offer exclusive cooperation agreements with almost all cruise providers. For example, AIDA and its training academy, A-ROSA, Columbia Ship Management (e.g. MS Europa) and the Peter Deilmann shipping line will be represented here.

Personnel managers and highly competent advisors from the hotel trade (Rocco Forte Collection, Kempinski Hotels, A-Rosa Resorts), catering (Marché Restaurants Deutschland GmbH) and tour operators (Robinson Club, Vamos Elter-Kinder-Reisen, Dertour) will be available to answer questions during face-to-face discussions. For anyone in search of employment there is also a large wall display showing the latest job vacancies throughout the fair.

A large stage forms the focal point of Hall 5.1. During all five days of the fair it will be the venue for speakers from technical collages and universities, who will be giving papers on courses of study, and various aspects of the tourism industry will also be covered. Companies which are contributing to the ITB Career Center will be providing information about job vacancies and career prospects and about opportunities for getting started in this field.

Wednesday, 11 March 2009, is an important date for young professionals and for anyone keen to investigate ways of developing their career. The Newcomers` Day, during the ITB Business Travel Days, which will take place in Hall 7.1 as part of the ITB Berlin Convention, will be an exclusive opportunity to learn about the changes that are being made to careers in travel, and the creation of a new professional qualification for mobility management. / kn
