"Travel Hall of Fame" also honours hoteliers

Berlin (February 23, 2007). With the "Travel Hall of Fame", the Travel Industry Club and the ITB - as the world's leading tourism fair - honour in typical American style all those who have done special service to the global travel industry and tourism. The "Travel Hall of Fame" is not, however, reserved exclusively for industrialists, who in the past have left a lasting mark on the branch, but also honours entrepreneurial services from those who are still very much active today.

As the Travel Industry Club and the ITB have announced, the foundation of the "Travel Hall of Fame" is a medium through which personalities from Germany and the rest of the international travel industry may be honoured, be that either in recognition of ongoing service or posthumously.

On 6 March 2007 - the evening prior to the opening of the ITB Berlin - two active entrepreneurs are to be incorporated into the "Travel Hall of Fame", both of whom are to be selected by a prominent jury. Amongst those personalities having been honoured posthumously by the initiative are: Hotelier Lorenz Adlon, the Hapag-Reeder Albert Balin, travel guide inventor Karl Baedeker as well as Property Developer and Hotelier Hans Joachim Gommolla.

Amongst the international personalities, commemorated by the ITB Berlin and the Travel Industry Club in the "Travel Hall of Fame" are: Hotelier Conread Nicholson Hilton from the USA, Swiss Hotelier Cesar Ritz and the Indian Hotel Pionier Rai Bahadur Mohan Singh Oberoi as well as the American Travel Entrepreneur and Hotelier Curtis Leroy Carlson

Dirk Bremer, Chairman of the Travel Industry Club says. "With the "Travel Hall of Fame" we'd like to commemorate personalities, who have chiselled and shaped the travel industry in the past through their visions. Every industry has its history. There is no future without roots and so these personalities make up the DNA of the travel industry." / kn
