11th ITB Hospitality Day: Google and Booking.com about their roles
![]() |
Berlin (February 26, 2016). The world of OTAs is turbulent and this will make the "duel of giants" even more exciting at the 11th ITB Hospitality Day: Google and Booking.com will encounter each other. This promises to be a highly interesting panel.
The Google search engine is turning into a booking engine and is thus becoming a competitor to its own customers – e.g. Booking.com. Is the hotel industry now at the mercy of the giants? This will be discussed by the two representatives from the world of distribution: Terri Scriven, Industry Head of Hospitality at Google UK, and Peter Verhoeven, Managing Director EMEA at Booking.com.

Host Wilhelm Konrad Weber, Partner of the consultancy Swiss Hospitality Solutions, will hopefully have the right questions in order to obtain specific answers from the giants. After all, the competition among OTAs is also changing the world of hospitality.
Which strategies are Google and Booking.com following, how will Google handle advertising in future, how will they link themselves to review platforms? Are they seriously considering other alliances, e.g. with the sharing economy?
