5th ITB Hospitality Day: how do hoteliers have to adapt their products?

Berlin (February 19, 2010). Everything revolves around the climate. What do hoteliers expect; how will they have to adapt their products to future scenarios near the Mediterranean, in the Alps, in Africa, or in Asia? Hopefully, the experts at the climate panel during the 5th hotel conference at ITB Berlin will find some answers. Thursday, March 11, 2010 is "Hospitality Day". This panel discussion starts at 3.30 p.m. hospitalityInside is the media partner of this conference and is looking forward to strong participation. Admission to all panel discussions of the Hospitality Day is free – registration is not necessary.

"The new passwords for the future are: sustainable growth (instead of quarterly quickies) and value-orientated innovation," provokingly says the futurologist Andreas Reiter. At the panel with the title "Climate Change: How do Hotels have to Adapt their Products?" he will show vivid images and describe future scenarios. What will hotels in the bottom of a valley be facing, how should hotels at snow borderlines react, and what kind of guests should hotels at the Mediterranean or in even hotter locations such as Africa or Asia adapt to?

There is an extremely broad field of issues around the key term "climate", but host Dr. Andreas Walmsley of Leeds Metropolitan University will hopefully elicit some practical suggestions from the participants. Deutsche Bank''s research department in Frankfurt has been dealing with climate changes for many years, as changed products always come with changed investment focuses. Industry analyst Philipp Ehmer will ensure that the "climate bracket" remains global during the discussion. DB Research issued a major survey on this issue in 2008.

Thomas Reisenzahn, General Secretary of ÖHV, the Austrian Hotel Association, will certainly be able to report on how hoteliers are already reacting to the changes looming in the future. Austria and its hoteliers are among the most advanced with respect to climate precautions.

The 5th Hospitality Day will take place on Thursday, March 11, 2010, in hall 7.1b, room London. The other issues of the day deal with the perspective of tour operators, innovative ideas, the influence of "mobile devices" and budget hotels. And on top of that, there will be a CEO panel.
