Berlin (December 9, 2011). While one is still searching for Christmas presents, the Messe Berlin is preparing once again for the next ITB. And with that, also for the hotel conference "ITB Hospitality Day" that hospitalityInside has reviewed regarding its content and has been an exclusive media partner since its start in 2006. Not all names are still certain, but a few highlights may already be revealed.
"ITB Hospitality Day" 2012 will be initiated with a 30 minute key note speech. Afterwards, the panel will take up a subject that touches a nerve with travellers as well as with hoteliers: The "brand chaos" in the hotel market. How many brands make sense? Hotel groups and hoteliers are world champions in the inventing of brands, but do they guarantee a better service to the traveller or are they only the victim of contorted marketing strategies? Marriott Hotels and the brand research company, Interbrand, have already committed to this panel.
For many years, the "CEO-Panel" has been a firm component of the hotel conference, but there will be an unusual variation next time. The ITB has invited the next generation: On Thursday, 8th of March, 2012, Dieter and Daniel Mueller of the German low budget design hotel group, Motel One, will then sit on the platform as well as Chanin and Siradej Donavanik of Thai Dusit Hotels & Resorts.
CEO Panel with father and son
Daniel Mueller and Siradej Donavanik are pleased with their decision to remain in the hotel industry. However, many others flee after their studies. A "War for Talents" has completely broken out. The additional challenges for the industry: It trains the younger generation and then loses them to other industries. How can it inspire young people? And what does the industry offer to the graduates?
The takeover of hotel.de by HRS indicates quite clearly that in the international hotel distribution, the power balance has shifted. Does this mean more power for fewer suppliers? What new dependences arise with the latest market movements? HRS and Expedia have already accepted.
And this subject also influences the booking behaviour: Security on vacation. How do hotels protect their guests if overnight political riots, crises or attempts surprise the vacationer? A famous hotelier with vast crisis experience has already accepted: Ed Fuller, President & Managing Director Marriott Lodging International.
The 7th "ITB Hospitality Day" Berlin takes place on Thursday, the 8th of March, 2012, at the ITB Berlin exhibition centre. The conference in Hall 7.1 B, London Room, begins at 10:30 and ends at 17:30. Entry is free for all trade show visitors.
