Berlin (January 28, 2011). The programme for the 6th "ITB Hospitality Day" on Thursday, 10 March 2011 has been fixed: 28 managers from the international hotel industry will join the hotel conference at the world''s biggest tourism fair. The spectrum of topics ranges from Eastern Europe to CSR and hotels of the future all the way to problems in succession, social media networks and the CEO panel. From today, hospitalityInside, media partner to the ITB Hospitality Day, will each week make a detailed presentation of the panels and their participants one by one. The discussion on the new trend between hostels and budget hotel will begin with an international panel. "Low Budget Hotels & Hostels: A Good Night''s Sleep for Peanuts?" is the title of this session.

Andrea Mehanna.

According to the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), around 20 percent of travellers worldwide are young people aged between 15 and 25. Though this potential is still very much under represented on the supply side. Cheap accommodation in double and several-bed rooms for a group or family are in demand; but also hostels with a sensible range of food, drinks and entertainment... Young and price-conscious travellers are also making increasing use of the internet in order to find such addresses and recommendations.

For this reason, among the panellists speaking on this subject will be the Founder and Managing Director of a booking platform for hostels and budget hotels: Andrea Mehanna of hostelsclub.com from Venice.

His website offers reasonable accommodation in 27 languages and all across the globe. The booking system is concentrated on camping sites, apartments, Bed&Breakfast as well as hostels and hotels.

  Oliver Winter.

A&O aus Deutschland und Tune Hotels aus Malysien

The boundaries between the individual segments have become fluid; it''s not only the "peanuts" price that counts, but also value for money. What travellers can expect in the particular case will be explained by two hotel chiefs: A&O Hotels and Hostels, popular in Germany and Europe, will be represented by Board Chairman Oliver Winter. And Mark Lankester, CEO of Tune Hotels, will make a special trip from Malaysia to the ITB. His young hotel group has already ventured the leap to Europe – Tune Hotels in this part of the world have already been announced. They promise "5-star beds at 1-star prices", as the marketing slogan of Tune Hotels makes clear.

Martina Fidlschuster.

Franz-Josef Koenig will join the panel as a neutral market observer. The Managing Director of Gesellschaft for Systemisches Management - a company for system management - from Koblenz has been a member of many committees in the field of youth tourism and also knows, as consultant, the budget hotel scene.

The discussion will be moderated by Martina Fidlschuster, Managing Director of Hotour Company Consultancy in Frankfurt. As experienced hotel consultant, she will prompt the gentlemen of the panel to give their trend analyses and provide concrete figures. This very special session will start at 5p.m. on March 10 and take 60 minutes. The place to be: ITB fairground, hall 7.1b, auditorium London.

The ITB Hospitality Day attracted an audience of 1,100 last year; the programme is put together by hospitalityInside Editor-in-Chief Maria Puetz-Willems.
