Union der Wirtschaft: New think tank in first exchange with Berlin politicians
Berlin (April 29, 2022). Whether government parties or the opposition, all representatives of the four major parliamentary groups in Berlin assured the 70 or so representatives from tourism, hospitality and the food industry that they hold regular discussions with them in the future; that they'd learn from them and so help the industry to boost its profile within German politics. The new members and invited guests of the Union der Wirtschaft (UdW / Business Union) think tank, established in May 2021, met in Paul Löbe House: The disaster that befell the industry as a result of corona has given birth to new lobbying initiatives! And this first with politicians marked a successful start.

Frankfurt/Main (April 1, 2022). CEO change at Deutsche Hospitality: André Witschi and Marcus Bernhardt leave Steigenberger Hotels AG. Oliver Bonke becomes the new CEO. Wilhelm Bender is elected chairman of the supervisory board. The Chinese owner Huazhu probably wants to turn the tide, because the acquisition of the German hotel group has not brought him a cent so far.

Düsseldorf (March 29, 2022). Otto Lindner's successor as CEO of Lindner Hotels AG is Arno Schwalie. The 47-year-old thus returns to the hospitality industry on 1 May. Most recently, he headed Korian Germany, the market leader among care service providers, as CEO. The planned change of CEO at Lindner Hotels became known in February 2022 and surprised the industry because such "ad hoc announcements" were not part of the style of the previous Lindner board member Otto Lindner and his board colleague Andreas Krökel. It was also unusual that with the withdrawal of the two gentlemen, two successors were merely announced but not appointed.
