Exclusively at the HITT in June: Global hospitality study lets guests talk

Augsburg/Berlin (April 28, 2023). Customers are in power! And their decisions for a hotel are increasingly made under aspects of sustainability. This will have a strong impact on the performance of hotel operators. Therefore, at the 6th HospitalityInside Think Tank, the data research company BVA BDRC will exclusively present results of a global survey among guests of large hotel chains from ten important source markets to the HITT participants.
The red-hot study will only be completed shortly before the HITT event on 26/27 June in Berlin. "And it will contain a lot of food for thought that the participants will chew on," Dr Crispian Tarrant, Chairman of BVA BDRC, is already sure today. "And that will stimulate intense discussion."
HITT moderator Tim Davis adds: "Lawyers and hotel investors always look at ESG from the sober side. Consumers, however, are value-driven. This sparks a whole different perspective, dynamic and pressure."
The BVA BDRC study sheds light on, among other things,
- consumers' attitudes towards different aspects of the ESG agenda: where are their priorities?
- the gap between what consumers say and what they actually do when choosing a hotel: What choices do they even have?
- hidden consumer views: What actions does one derive from them?
- the views of Generation Z: how will they determine demand in the future?
- the agenda of the big companies in the market: how do they drive the purchase of hotel rooms with their own ESG priorities? And how deep does their influence reach into the supply chains?
BVA BDRC's findings on such questions provide a great foundation for discussion, comment and stimulation, and a guide for HITT participants. The consumer study with hotel guests is also complemented by a programme of B2B in-depth interviews with hotel procurement decision makers.

The bridge from consumer to corporate buyer
And that is why HospitalityInside, as organiser, has also invited two powerful companies from the market: Siemens and HRS. The industrial company, which books millions of hotel nights annually, and the highly specialised OTA for business travel have jointly developed Siemens' own standards for the "Green Stay Initiative" (GSI).
We will introduce Eric Hofmeister, Head of Global Lodging Procurement at Siemens AG, and Fabio Fornari, Product Manager for Sustainability at HRS Group, separately shortly.
The HITT plea for the consumer:
Dr Crispian Tarrant, Chairman, BVA BDRC Consumer Research, A specialist market research consultancy presenting exclusively the latest research data for hospitality.
On Monday, 26 June 2023, from 4.30pm at the HITT.
Impulse 2: The case for sustainability
The growing voice of consumers and corporate buyers is impacting hospitality choices: Both insist on staying in sustainable hotels (only). How strong is the pressure of these clients on the hotels' business, how does it affect the hotel brand appeal and performance?
The 6th HospitalityInside Think Tank (HITT) on 26-27 June 2023 in Berlin:
Next level: Measure. Benchmark. Drive.
Lifting sustainability from intention to traction.
