Berlin (March 22, 2019). The first HITT Breakfast two weeks ago was the starting shot for a new networking event in Berlin. 70 guests followed the invitation of HospitalityInside and co-host mrp hotels and found their way into the 25hours Hotel Bikini Berlin between the end of the IHIF and the beginning of the ITB. Yaning Liu, Director of Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality from Beijing, gave the keynote speech at the HITT Breakfast premier, focusing on digitisation. We include a video of this today – and further information (boarding, get-together) for the second HospitalityInside Think Tank (HITT) on 19/20 May 2019 in Berlin. The first wave of registrations has been accepted. There are still places free.

The guest mix at the HITT Breakfast was varied and international, digitisation busies both hotel operations specialists, the hotel real estate scene as well as consultants, HR experts and academy heads. All listened closely to the keynote by the Special Guest from China – and were happy to see that hoteliers like Yaning Liu and Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality don't jump on every digital bandwagon in technologically advanced China. The core hotel of the group is the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in which the world’s heads of state tend to stay – with Yaning Liu stressing here that in this hotel, it's all about special attention to maintaining privacy. Yet even in the other tourist hotels and resorts operated per joint venture with the American MGM Resorts under the four brands Diaoyutai, Bellagio, MGM and Mhub, human staff still satisfied guest wishes and robots were not used. Diaoyutai doesn't use facial recognition yet either, nor has it incorporated much artificial intelligence into its systems. That sounded down-to-earth and in accordance with an interpretation of hospitality which would of course please Europeans.

In September of this year, the Chinese-American joint venture Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality will open its first hotel in Europe: The Diaoyutai Mansion in Frankfurt.

HospitalityInside extends a heartfelt thank you to Yaning Liu, to the partners at mrp hotels – Jan Hein Simons, Martin Schaffer and Michael Regner – and of course to its guests, who took the time for networking during this very intense trade fair week.

Also attending the first HITT Breakfast were, amongst others, representatives from AccorHotels, Acron, Adina, Arbireo, Art-Invest, Baker & McKenzie, B&B, CommerzReal, CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz, COTRI, Dorint, Drees & Sommer, DSR, Dusit, EHL, EY, Guestline, Hotour, HR Group, IHCL, Invesco, Kempinski, KPMG, m2China, mrp hotels, Quality Reservations, Radisson, Ruby, Sabre, Signa, Soravia, The Hague Hotelschool, UBM, Union Investment, Place Value, Zoku, 25hours.
